THE CASE TO KEEP KELLER

Tim Keller is running for reelection for two clear reasons. First, he’s done the real work to repair decades-long challenges holding our city back. Now we know what’s working—and it’s time to press the pedal down and move Albuquerque forward through these tough times.

Second, he’s running to stand up to Trump’s policies and the harmful cuts that threaten our families and safety. Mayor Keller has faced Trump head-on before, and now he has both the plan and the resolve to do it again.

These are tough times—locally and nationally. Albuquerque needs strong, reliable leadership to carry us through.

What Mayor Tim Keller has accomplished

Transformed Crime Fighting

  • Rebuilt APD: After decades of declining ranks and a department mired in a federal consent decree, APD has been rebuilt. Today, nearly every major crime category is going down, and the department is 99% compliant with DOJ reforms.

  • Modernized Policing: Transitioned APD from being solely officer-dependent to integrating crime-fighting technology—gunshot detection, license plate readers, and speed cameras—while adding civilian staff to free officers to focus on violent crime.

  • Accountability for Violent Crime: A decade ago, there was only a 50% chance of an arrest for murder. Today, APD has flipped the odds—there’s now a ~95% chance the perpetrator will be caught, arrested, and put behind bars.

  • Violence Intervention Program (VIP): Established to break cycles of gun violence by targeting repeat offenders with interventions and peer support. Now expanded into three high schools, VIP has shown over an 80% drop in recidivism and an 80% increase in grades.

Built a system for Homelessness and Housing

  • Comprehensive Services: Created a full spectrum of housing and support. Albuquerque now has a 24/7 first-responder drop-off for the unhoused, transporting dozens directly from the street into care every night.

  • Gateway System: Five specialized locations now serve 1,000 people daily—focused on addiction, medical recovery, teenagers, families, and seniors.

  • Housing Production: Built 2,500 mixed-use and affordable housing units—double the number produced in the same period previously.

  • Zoning Reform: Drastically shifted codes away from sprawl and segregation toward inclusive infill, casitas, and converting hotels and offices into needed housing.

Breakthrough Achievements

  • Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS): Created the nation’s first 24/7 alternative 911 response department, staffed with social workers and behavioral health responders. ACS has already handled over 100,000 calls that police and fire didn’t have to—delivering the right response at the right time.

  • CNM Film Academy at the Railyards: After decades of delay, this state-of-the-art training hub is nearing completion and will bring hundreds of students to downtown daily starting next year, fueling Albuquerque’s film industry.

  • The Rail Trail: A 20-year vision finally underway. This generational project will become New Mexico’s signature public space—connecting Old Town to Downtown with a pedestrian parkway showcasing public art that tells the “story of us.”

  • Institutionalizing Equity & Neighborhood Investment: Established the Offices of Sustainability, Equity & Inclusion, and Immigrant Affairs. Reallocated nearly $500 million into community and senior centers, libraries, roads, lighting, crosswalks, and new parks—especially in historic and disadvantaged neighborhoods.
